How Compress Buddy works
Compress Buddy is a page in your browser, not a cloud encoder.
You select files. The script compresses them on the device. You save the result.
- Step 1: select one image or many images.
- Step 2: the browser compresses each file.
- Step 3: you download a file or a zip.
Compression runs in your browser. Your images never leave this device.
Local processing
The compressor uses browser-image-compression and a web worker when the browser allows it.
HEIC photos from iPhones convert in the browser before the size pass.
What we do not do
We do not store your images on Compress Buddy servers.
We do not require an API key or a desktop install.
What you should still check
Preview the new files before you delete originals.
Keep a copy of the source photos. Compression cannot restore discarded detail.
